Residents of Glengarry-Prescott-Russell will soon benefit from federal Gas Tax Fund investments in local infrastructure that will help grow the middle class, create healthy communities for our children and promote sustainable development and long-term prosperity for Canadian families.

This year, Glengarry-Prescott-Russell will receive $5,765,436 in indexed annual funding through the federal Gas Tax Fund for municipal infrastructure like local roads, sports and recreation facilities and tourism infrastructure. The projects generate economic growth and create jobs to ensure that Ontario remains among the best places in the world to live.

Whether the federal Gas Tax Fund is invested to keep our roads safe and smooth, to support our public transit system or to improve residents’ access to clean drinking water, it has made a difference in our community.

The Government of Canada is proud to deliver predictable, long-term funding to help municipalities build the Canada of the 21st century and ensure a high quality of life for generations to come.

“Local governments know best what their communities need, and the Government of Canada is proud to deliver stable, long-term funding that they count on to develop and maintain their public infrastructure.”

Francis Drouin, Member of Parliament for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell

“On behalf of the eight municipalities in Prescott and Russell, I recognize the federal government’s important financial contribution to the municipal sector – specifically for our roads, bridges, water and wastewater systems. By providing the gas tax funding on an annual basis – in other words, in a predictable manner – it allows for municipalities to plan their infrastructure investments in advance, and this is an enormous benefit from a budget planning perspective. The Government of Canada’s ongoing commitment towards municipal infrastructure is commendable.”
