North Glengarry township employees will start to work on replacing a watermain located on Kenyon Street East, between County Road 34 and Bishop Street, in Alexandria on August 21. A small section of Dominion Street South, from Kenyon Street to Centre Street will also be impacted.
This project will begin with the removal of the hardtop, followed by digging up and replacing the existing, four-inch ductile iron pipes, with six-inch PVC pipes. Residents may see an increase in water pressure, once the system is restored.
During the construction project, numerous large trucks will be on site and the area may be dusty as a result of the digging.
Temporary water lines will be installed to reach the affected residences. Residents who are affected may remain under a water-boil advisory for the duration of this project, which is expected to last between two and six weeks. During this time, it will remain safe to use the water for cleaning and washing purposes.
Affected roads will remain closed to traffic throughout the duration of this project and will only be accessible to local residents.
