The Apple Hill Scout Reserve (AHSR) of Scouts Canada will welcome the Glengarry Pioneer Museum (GPM) Historical Driving Group members to the camp on Saturday June 16th, 2018 for lunch.
Patrick Wall, AHSR Warden will be welcoming 40 members of the Historical Driving Group and providing a brief overview of the property, its aims and objectives and future plans in meeting Scouts Canada’s youth programming and initiatives. AHSR is a 300 plus acre property and has been operating since 1961 providing a venue for the Scouting movement.
“It will be a pleasure to welcome the Glengarry Pioneer Museum (GPM) Historical Driving Group to Apple Hill Scout Reserve, which is a Scouts Canada Camp since it opened in 1961. To share the history of the camp, and more importantly it’s mission to provide a place for Youth to experience many outdoor adventures will be a highlight of their trip I’m sure!”, stated Warden Patrick Wall.
The GPM has been conducting tours for the past 10 years by visiting locations within Glengarry County. They highlight significant facts about each site with both historical and folklore stories to focus on the rich history of Glengarry.
“The Glengarry Pioneer Museum looks forward to visiting the Apple Hill Scout Reserve. We know that this camp is an integral part of Glengarry and for the scouting experience for youth in Canada. I for one am looking forward to the campfire songs as performed by a number of our talented music students from the area”, said Stuart Robertson of the GPM Historical Driving Group.
This year’s tour will include Greenfield, Apple Hill and Maxville. A lunch stop at the AHSR will include entertainment with campfire songs performed by music students.
