More than $13,000 was raised at a curling bonspiel held on February 10 as part of Heart and Stroke month at the Vankleek Hill Curling Club. The funds were donated to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
Sixteen teams participated in the bonspiel, which was organized by curling club members Pitt Paquette and Bruce MacNaughton. Vankleek Hill’s Scotiabank contributed $5,000 as part of its matching funds program, and the Vankleek Hill and District Lions Club contributed $500 to bring the total to more than $13,000.
The winning team at the Vankleek Hill Curling Club bonspiel which took place on February 10 consisted of: lead Pauline Beauchamp, skip Darcy Conway, third Jean Roy and second Mac McIntyre. The event was a fundraiser for the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation.
