The crossroads of the historical hamlet of Dunvegan, Ontario will be busy with shoppers on December 2 and 3 as they will be returning for the popular, not-your-typical craft fair which is a nod to a simpler era of traditions past.
This well-loved little craft show was started as an annual fundraiser five years ago to support the Dunvegan Recreation Association and its volunteers and their efforts at the Glengarry Pioneer Museum.
“It is our way of giving back, a way to say thanks for providing volunteers to staff the food concession at museum events such as the War of 1812 Reenactment”, says Jim Mullin, co-owner of The Chocolate Box, which is hosting this unique craft Show.
A variety of vendors showcasing their historically-inspired designs and trades of early Ontario settlers will offer shoppers unique items not found at a typical craft show. Silhouette artist Jillian Metcalfe will be returning with her A-Head-of-the- Times Portrait Studio. She will be creating instant heirloom profile portraits on the spot within minutes. Fresh, traditional green Christmas wreaths and other natural greenery will also be available. Also included this year will be a popular candle seller, maple syrup, honey, leather goods, recycled silver jewellery, hand-forged iron goods, primitive candlesticks and wooden ornaments.
The Historical Crafters Fair runs Saturday December 2, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. continues on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is no entry fee but monetary donations to the Dunvegan Recreation Association would be greatly appreciated. The Dunvegan Recreation Hall is located at 19053 Dunvegan Road 24 in Dunvegan, Ontario.
