As of September 1, the L’Orignal Old Jail has officially wrapped up its summer season.
Between June 1 and September 1, more than 2,500 people visited the jail-turned-museum, taking in the guided tours, as well as various special events, such as 30 Prison Break escape games, murder mystery activities, and “La Derniere Pendaison” play.
Next summer, the jail will feature a brand-new permanent exhibit. Guides working at the Old Jail this summer carried out extensive research with other judicial institutions, former guards, archives, and newspaper clippings to gather as much information as possible about the judicial heritage of the village of L’Orignal. They also conducted a search for artifacts, which will continue throughout the year.
Guided tours are available through the rest of the year but must be made by reservation.
Visit the L’Orignal Old Jail Facebook page for more information and for updates on upcoming events and activities.
