June is a busy month at the Glengarry Pioneer Museum in Dunvegan, and the events this month are just a small part of what is taking place at the museum during the 2026 spring to fall season.
The following events are coming up at the museum during the next two weeks:
Gel Mandala Art Workshop, June 13, 1:30 – 3:30pm
Artist Robin Patterson of Crayon Box Studio will guide participants in creating a unique gel pen creation. Workshop is open to ages 12+. Pre-registration is open on our website. For a full list of paint afternoons and “try-it” workshops, go to the museum’s website to make sure you don’t miss out.
Clan MacLeodSociety of Glengarry’s 90th Anniversary Picnic, June 14
The Clan MacLeod has been gathering in Dunvegan annually since 1936. Any and all MacLeods and their relations are welcome to join the festivities. There is guaranteed to be music and highland dancing! Congratulations to Clan MacLeod! The museum remains open, so that’s a bonus for the rest of us!
10th Anniversary Smith-In, Saturday, June 20
Blacksmiths from across Ontario and Québec will unite at the museum for demonstrations making everything from knives and musket barrels to hooks and hinges. Several vendors will be onsite, children’s activities (build a weathervane!) and food will be for sale. One day only on Father’s Day weekend. Bring the whole family!
Also, mark your calendars on July 25 for A Glengarry Gathering, a Ceilidh to celebrate the Scottish spirit with music, dance and community. Paddy Kelly of Stewart’s Glen will be performing, along with others to be announced. All proceeds go towards the War of 1812 Education Day for local schools visiting the museum.
