To the Editor,

I just had a few things to pass by you; this past Tuesday night I went to the pancake dinner at the St. John’s Anglican Church. I have to compliment the whole event, the food was amazing, the volunteers were all so kind and efficient, all went like a well-oiled machine. The beautiful plates, the solid cutlery, no dumping of plastic and styrofoam — and to top off a beautiful meal and great company, after my meal a little person, perhaps 7 or 8, came up and asked if she could take my plate. I said thank you as I handed it to her and watched her shuffle away in her flowered dress, it just doesn’t get any better than that. Thanks again for the wonderful time.

Okay, let’s talk about Alberta and a movement to separate from Canada, at a time when it’s real important for us to stick together. This referendum could cost a lot of money and when Alberta hospitals and schools are in tatters, I’m pretty sure the money could be placed somewhere needed.

As far as separatist movements go, at the big oil boom a lot of people from across the country headed to Alberta for work and big money. I’m wondering if some people from Québec brought their separatist thinking to Alberta and thought if it did not work in Québec, it might work there. I figure if you don’t want to be a part of Canada, why don’t you sell your homes to real Canadians and move to the U.S., and forget to write.

Have a nice day,
