Grenville’s community health centre is officially open at its new location.
On Thursday, December 18, Shirley Dorismond, the Parliamentary Assistant to the Québec Minister of Health, officially opened the new Centre local de services communautaires (CLSC), located at the corner of rue Principale and rue du Moulin.
The Grenville CLSC offers vaccination and mental health services, routine care, ambulatory clinics, and home care support services.
The former CLSC on rue Maple/Route 344 closed in August 2025 due to water damage in the building, leaving residents of the western part of Argenteuil having to temporarily travel to Lachute if they required CLSC services.
The building where the Grenville CLSC is located was formerly home to a law office. The local Maison des Jeunes continues to use the other part of the building. Previously, the building was privately owned, but the Municipalité régionale de comté (MRC) d’Argenteuil purchased it for $400,000 and is leasing the space back to the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) des Laurentides regional health authority for 15 years.
Dorismond said the new CLSC reflects a commitment to ensure more health professionals are available to residents at the community level.
“It’s important for all families and elderly people,” she said.
Argenteuil Member of the National Assembly Agnes Grondin said the CLSC will ensure underserviced areas of Argenteuil’s western district have more access to services.
Anywhere from seven to 15 people work at the Grenville CLSC, depending on the services and programs being offered.
The new location of the CLSC follows a previous, unsuccessful attempt to secure a new location in Grenville. In January 2024 MRC d’Argenteuil council adopted a motion to spend up to $1,500,000 to purchase the former Banque Laurentienne building in Grenville for the CLSC. However, MRC Prefect Bernard Bigras-Denis said the cost of that building was too high and the building at the corner of rue Principale and rue du Moulin was selected instead.
