Respected Vankleek Hill funeral director and community builder Mark Henderson has been honoured by the provincial association of funeral directors.
Henderson, the longtime owner of Hillcrest Funeral Home, was presented with the Lifetime Honourary Member Award from the Ontario Funeral Service Association at a conference held in Niagara Falls on September 15 and 16.
The prestigious award recognizes funeral directors who have demonstrated outstanding dedication and excellence throughout their careers.
Mark and his wife Lisa have been active in numerous local initiatives, including the Vankleek Hill Business and Merchant Association, the Vankleek Hill Christmas Home Tour, and the Trees of Remembrance initiative. In addition to his work as a funeral director, Mark also served as a volunteer firefighter in Vankleek Hill for over 30 years and finished his firefighting role as captain.
Mark began his career after graduating from Humber College in 1987 and started work in Ottawa before moving to Vankleek Hill in 1991 with his wife, Lisa. Both have become pillars of the community, making a lasting impact both professionally and personally.
