On Wednesday, September 24, Interlude launched its 2025 fundraising campaign, Collective Light, at Riverest in L’Orignal. The organization, previously known as Maison Interlude House, aims to raise more than $100,000 for its services and develop sustainable housing solutions for women and their dependents.
Interlude’s services defend and promote the well-being and safety of women, while addressing gender-based violence within Eastern Ontario. For over 40 years, Interlude has provided a safe space and support services for those in Prescott-Russell and Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry.

Interlude Executive Director Muriel Lalonde spoke to attendees about the importance of raising funds for those in the community, saying, “Every year, our fundraising campaign is about more than raising money. It’s a heartfelt call for solidarity, kindness, and action. Our approach is both holistic and deeply human.”
Throughout the past year, Interlude has responded to 4,200 calls, 400 texts and online chats, delivered outreach services to 875 women, and provided shelter to 53 women and 39 dependents.

Co-Chair of the Interlude fundraising campaign and Clarence-Rockland Mayor Mario Zanth said, “Our objective is clear: to raise the necessary funds for this important organization. Victims more often than not have nothing, no money, no housing, no legal support. Only public funding can guarantee access to safe shelters available 24/7.”
“These services are complex and costly. I encourage everyone to not only become donors, but to become agents of change,” Zanth concluded.

Cornwall city councillor and Co-Chair of the Interlude fundraising campaign Sarah Good stressed that Interlude’s services are needed across the region, saying that the issue of domestic violence has not subsided.
“Over the past several years, especially during and after the pandemic, we’ve seen increases in cases and their severity,” Good said. “I am certain that with all of our efforts, spirits, and enthusiasm, we’ll be able to reach the $100,000 target. This is a time when we need to make our voices louder, stand up for what’s right, and certainly not allow women and children to be stuck in these situations.”

Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell Stéphane Sarrazin said, “We’re really lucky to have such an organization like Interlude. We need to continue to make sure women have what they need to succeed in a safe environment. When women succeed, the province succeeds.”
As part of the 2025 fundraising campaign, Interlude is organizing several initiatives over the next couple of months.
A grand raffle is being held until November 27. Tickets are $25 each, and participants will have the chance to win either a $3,000 travel gift card or a three-night stay at the Grand Lodge Tremblant, valued at $1,000.
On October 7, participants in an online trivia night will have the chance to win a one-night stay at Laura’s BnB for four guests. Tickets are $30 per person or per family and can be purchased on Interlude’s website.
Between November 20 and 22, a virtual silent auction will also be held, offering unique and exclusive prizes.
Concluding on November 27, Interlude will host a benefit evening at the Bonnie Glen Pavilion in Alexandria. Live music, a three-course meal, a silent auction, and the raffle draw will be enjoyed by participants for the price of $150 per person or $1,050 per table of eight.
