A Lachute man is facing a second-degree murder charge following an occurrence on Friday, May 16.
According to Sûreté du Québec Sergeant Jean-Raphael Drolet, police officers responded to a home on Rue Saint-Exupery at around 2:30 pm Friday to reports of a man trespassing on the property.
Drolet said police officers went to another nearby home where an unconscious woman was found. She was taken to hospital and pronounced dead.
A male suspect appeared in court on Saturday, May 17. Mathieu McClaren, 36, was charged with second-degree murder.
The Sûreté du Québec continues to investigate.
