Approximately 100 vendors from near and far gathered at the Glengarry Sports Palace in Alexandria on Sunday, May 4, for the 17th Women’s Day fundraiser market. Volunteers from the non-profit Women’s Day Alexandria (WDA) collected donations throughout the day in support of the Glengarry Memorial Hospital (GMH).
WDA has been fundraising to purchase equipment to offer additional comfort to those being treated at the local hospital.
La Soupière returned this year with food and beverage items, while shoppers browsed a wide selection of hand-crafted items and local goods, watched the Viau Ladies Wear fashion show, and interacted with small business owners at their booths.

There were numerous opportunities for individuals to give generously in support of the GMH, including special draws, surprise bags, a silent auction, and door prizes—activities that filled both levels of the sports complex.
By the end of the day, more than 75 prizes had been awarded to attendees—but the biggest winner was GMH.
“This year we are happy to announce that we will be purchasing seven pelvic tilt lifts for patient comfort at our Glengarry Memorial Hospital. A very special thank you to our many volunteers who gave their time for us, and most of all, to everyone who made our event a total success,” WDA President Manon Lalonde said.
