A plan to expand a popular retail outlet in Hawkesbury is supported by town council.

On Monday, June 22, council supported a staff recommendation directing staff to process a Site Plan Control application as an amendment to the existing Site Plan Agreement which, if successful, will allow for the expansion of the Winners store in the Harden shopping centre on Highway 17.

Harden is planning to expand the existing Winners retail store to occupy the parking lot spaces between the two separate commercial plaza buildings. The area subject to the infill proposal currently consists of parking lot, and therefore the change to a new building is not expected to impact the overall stormwater management plan. However, stormwater management infrastructure will need to be relocated. A total of 531 parking spaces being retained. Hawkesbury municipal staff met with Harden representatives on May 21 to discuss the proposal.

Mayor Robert Lefebvre, and Councillors Jeanne Charlebois, and Yves Paquette each made comments welcoming the additional commercial development and noted the past cooperation with Harden has been very good.
