As the winter season approaches with an expected circulation of viruses and respiratory infections, the public health department of the CISSS des Laurentides health authority invites residents of Argenteuil to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and the flu to protect their health and that of others.

Starting October 16, the vaccination campaign will begin in the region and will offer the flu and COVID-19 vaccine free of charge to the entire population, and to certain groups, the pneumococcal vaccine. Vaccination is particularly recommended for people who are at risk of developing complications if they contract these viruses and respiratory infections.

Vulnerable or at-risk people are encouraged to make an appointment now:

  • People residing in long-term care centres or private seniors’ residences or living in other collective settings with a high proportion of seniors and vulnerable people;
  • People aged 60 and over;
  • People who are immunocompromised, on dialysis or living with a chronic illness;
  • Pregnant women and parents of babies under six months old;
  • Healthcare workers;
  • Adults living in remote or isolated areas.

The general population will also be able to make an appointment starting October 16. To facilitate access to services, vaccination will be offered at all local service points in the region as well as in some community pharmacies. It will be possible to receive the COVID-19 and flu vaccines at the same vaccination session.

Appointments are required:

In order to limit the spread of viruses and better protect the most vulnerable, the Direction de santé publique des Laurentides also reminds us of the importance of continuing preventive measures, such as hand washing, limiting contact or wearing a mask if you have symptoms. If you have a fever, it is recommended to stay home.
