A worldwide technology outage on July 19 affected services at one local health care facility.

An update to systems by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike–one of the largest operators in the industry, triggered systems problems that grounded flights, forced broadcasters off air and left people without access to healthcare or banking for much of the day.

At Glengarry Memorial Hospital in Alexandria, the Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association (EORLA) Laboratory had to close for most of the day due to the outage. The laboratory reopened on Monday, July 22.
