The Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid criminal charges against two individuals after a fatal collision in Bourget involving a golf cart in 2023.
On August 26, 2023, OPP officers responded to a collision involving a modified golf cart in Bourget. As a result of the single motor vehicle collision, a 15-year-old passenger was ejected and died from the injuries sustained from the collision.
Following a lengthy investigation by detectives of the Russell County OPP Crime Unit, two individuals were arrested and charged with Criminal Code (CC) offences.
On March 18, 2024, a 17-year-old youth was charged with:
- Dangerous Operation Causing Death
- Operation Causing Death
On March 26, 2024, a 45-year-old from Bourget, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
- Criminal Negligence Causing Death
The individuals are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
