It’s pothole season on roads everywhere, but there may be slightly fewer potholes in the future on some highways across the Laurentides region of Québec, including Argenteuil.

On March 11, Minister responsible for the Laurentides region Nadine Girault announced on behalf of Minister of Transport François Bonnardel Bonnardel that the Québec government will invest $323,161,000 during the next two years in highway improvement projects across the Laurentides. For the announcement in St-Jérôme, Girault was joined by Argenteuil Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Agnès Grondin, St-Jérôme MNA Youri Chassin, and Mirabel MNA Sylvie D’Amours.

Out of the total investment, $65,367,000 will be used to return pavement to good condition, $82,991,000 is for returning structures to good condition, $174,729,000 will be for projects designed to ensure an efficient and secure highway network following recommendations from the coroner’s office, and $75,000 is allocated for to maintain structures and culverts located on abandoned railway rights-of-way in good condition.

The announcement means a series of highway projects will occur during the next two years across the MRC d’Argenteuil.

A project that anyone who regularly drives in Lachute will welcome in 2022-2023, is the repaving of avenue Bethany and the interchange ramps at Autoroute 50. The condition of the existing pavement is extremely poor, with many dangerous potholes.

The seriously deteriorated pavement on Routes 158 and 327 in Lachute (avenue de la Providence), between avenue d’Argenteuil and rue Roy, will be replaced in 2022-2023. Stabilization work on Routes 158 and 329 in Lachute is also planned for 2022-2023.

Preparation work will begin in 2022-2023 for the reconstruction of Pont Henry-Raby bridge on rue Principale in Brownsburg-Chatham, which crosses Riviere de l’Ouest. The work itself will take place in 2023-2024.

In St-André-d’Argenteuil, preparation work will take place in 2022-2023 for the replacement of the bridge on Route 344, which crosses Rivière du Nord, and the replacement work itself will occur in 2023-2024.

The bridge over Rivière Calumet on rue Boyd in Grenville-sur-la-Rouge will be resurfaced in 2022-2023.

Work will take place in Harrington during 2022-2023 to stabilize Route 327 near the Rivière Perdue dam.
