Opération Nez rouge will return to the Argenteuil region this December, offering residents a safe ride home during the holiday season on eight evenings throughout the month.
Announced on Wednesday, November 4, the campaign, locally managed by Club Richelieu Lachute, will operate on December 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 26, and 31, from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m., serving all nine municipalities within the Municipalité régionale de comté (MRC) d’Argenteuil.
Club Richelieu Lachute President Brigitte Lallement said the organization is managing the local campaign for the ninth consecutive year, although its involvement with Opération Nez rouge dates back to 2001.
“We are happy to be back to fulfill the mission of Opération Nez rouge, which is to promote responsible behaviour to prevent impaired driving,” Lallement said.
During the 2025 campaign, 78 volunteers provided 89 rides over eight nights, accounting for a total of 154 volunteer shifts. Of those volunteers, 20 were participating in Opération Nez rouge for the first time.
The campaign raised nearly $11,000 through sponsorships, promotional activities, and donations from service users. Club Richelieu Lachute subsequently donated half of the proceeds to Maison de la famille au cœur des générations d’Argenteuil.
Residents wishing to use the service can call 450-562-4111 or submit a request through the Opération Nez rouge mobile application. The service is available throughout the MRC’s nine municipalities, provided the starting point is within the region.
The free service relies entirely on volunteers, and the organization is continuing to recruit drivers, telephone operators, and members of its promotional team.
