From November 5 to December 12, the Arbor Gallery presents two exhibitions exploring artistic expression, personal reflection, and our relationship with the world around us. In the Main Gallery, Fran Deragon Bailey presents Retro 50, while the Arber Room features Mood Rings of the Earth by Christine Lenoir-Godin.
In Retro 50, Deragon Bailey shares more than fifty years of artistic exploration. Throughout her life, she has been inspired by moments that move her, from the beauty of a wind-carved snowdrift to the everyday wonders of the world. Painting is her way of sharing these discoveries with others. Having made and taught art in Montréal, Québec City, Toronto, Hudson, Vancouver Island, and Vankleek Hill, she invites visitors to discover the experiences and inspirations that have shaped her lifelong journey through art.
In Mood Rings of the Earth, Lenoir-Godin explores the shifting emotions prompted by threats of war and environmental destruction. Through works reflecting resistance, the passage of time, and the courage of freedom fighters, she expresses the uncertainty of our times alongside a longing for inner peace. Images of burning horizons contrast with quieter scenes of silence and reflection. The exhibition traces an emotional journey from fear to courage to peace, inviting viewers to contemplate the world’s challenges and the possibility of finding calm amid uncertainty.
A vernissage will take place Saturday, November 7, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Arbor Gallery, 103 High Street, Vankleek Hill. In celebration of the town’s Christmas Home Tour, the gallery will exceptionally be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day. Regular hours are Thursday through Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. Admission is always free.
