Members of the Hawkesbury detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one person in connection with the suspicious fire at an apartment building in November 2025.
The fire occurred on Saturday, November 29, at a building on Portelance Avenue.
Melissa Bordenuick, 41, of Hawkesbury, is charged with:
Arson with contempt for human life
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on September 23, 2026.
The building, which contained 30 social housing units owned and operated by the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, was home to 54 residents at the time.
