Dear Editor,
OK, this has gone on long enough. Flogging the idea of a high-speed train at a time like this has become ridiculous nonsense. We are within days of taking what may well be a truly massive economic hit courtesy of our ex-friends to the south. Dropping $90+ billion dollars, which we do not have, on a frivolous, shiny toy project at a time like this is beyond dumb. Federal money, if we have any left, should be going to serious, fundamental, real-world issues like rebuilding defence and health care, both of which are in a disastrous state. There should be no money at all for glamourous, prestige driven games.
