Église Sainte-Anne is the most prominent landmark of its namesake village, and the historic church needs some repairs.
“Our church is basically solid, and very beautiful, but it needs a little TLC, so we’re launching a campaign to repair the cornices,” said Alain Lavigne, Chair of the Parish Pastoral Council at Sainte-Anne-de-Prescott Parish.
The interior of the heritage church features a Casavant organ recognised by the organ society, and its décor is the work of the illustrious T.X. Renaud, for which it has also won an award. But now, the priority is on the exterior.
“Three years ago, a group of volunteers painted the bull’s-eye window, refurbished the window frames and various out minor repairs. But now the work needed is even higher up, so we need to pay for a crane and specialists,” Lavigne added.
The next project is to paint and repair the church’s cornices and the external dome above the chancel. It has been determined that this work is a priority in order to preserve the building’s structure. The total cost of the work is estimated at around $25,000. The parish already has $15,000 available for the work. The fundraising target is $10,000. Any resident, individual or company wishing to support the preservation of this precious heritage, is invited to make a contribution.
