Two incumbent municipal politicians are running for Mayor in the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet.

Antoni Viau, who is currently a Ward 2 Councillor, had already filed nomination papers, and now incumbent Mayor Yves Laviolette has also filed nomination papers to run for another four-year term.

As of Friday, June 10, there were no races for Councillor in either of Alfred and Plantagenet’s two wards where voters each elect two representatives. In Ward 1, incumbent Benoit Lamarche was nominated, along with new candidate Sylvain Garièpy. The only nomination for Councillor in Ward 2 has been filed by Sylvain Boudreault.

Municipal election day in Alfred and Plantagenet, and every other municipality across Ontario is October 26.
