Southwestern BBQ chicken, Greek, bacon pepperoni, chicken alfredo, and mac & cheese pizza pockets were on the menu with a side dish of numerous dessert pizzas (caramel apple, ice cream etc.) for the seven members of the Prescott County 4-H Pizza Club. Members learned about the history of pizza, making dough with or without yeast, types of pizzas (New Yorker, Chicago deep-dish etc.), flours and cheeses and reading food labels for nutrition and content, all supported by Did You Knows (DYK)?, Baking Hacks, Do’s and Don’ts and experiments. Members also practised ‘Roberts Rules’ for conducting meetings and had a thoughtful discussion on the 4-H pledge (clearer thinking, greater loyalty, larger service, and better living).
The Prescott County 4-H Pizza Club held its Achievement event at Vankleek Hill Trinity United Church Friday, July 3, 2026. Owner Anjou from Anjou’s Pizza restaurant in Vankleek Hill was our special guest who spoke to the members and family on running a pizzeria/restaurant. 300 lbs of dough are made each week and 80lbs of cheese used in one night! 4-H members prepared dessert pizzas for their Achievement project and collaborated with the 4-H ‘Go for the Gold’ Club whose members judged the pizzas. First place was awarded to Anna Brandrick and second place to Reid Fraser. On behalf of the Prescott County 4-H Club, leaders Faye Allen and Ida Everest would like to thank Anjou for her presentation and providing pizza to all attendees.
4-H is a wholesome program for youth (aged 6-21) to learn about topics (Animals, Agriculture, Square Dancing, Homemaking, Finances etc.) and enjoy hands-on experience and mentorship. The 4 Hs represent: Head, Heart, Hands and Health! There are typically six meetings for each Club. 4-H’s motto is “Learn by Doing”. Please see The Prescott County 4-H Facebook Page or 4-H Ontario for more information.
