The Municipality of Casselman presented Community Service Medallions during the past week.

The medallions were awarded to Norman Bédard for his commitment as a founder of the 2804 Casselman Cadets, as a Founder. Bernard Boulerice also received the Community Service Medallion for his involvement in all aspects of community life in the Municipality.

The medallions recognize Casselman residents who have made exceptional contributions to the

community in various fields such as the arts, community service, the economy, education, the environment, public health, innovation, leadership, sports, and civic values. The recipients are nominated by the community, and their applications are reviewed by a selection committee.

“Thanks to the volunteers, we feel connected. We feel a sense of belonging to a community. Recognizing their efforts is a way to thank them, but also to inspire others. By celebrating those who give, we show that every little gesture counts and that together, we can build something strong, caring, and lasting.,” said Mayor Geneviève Lajoie.

Bédard expressed his commitment to young people:

“I have visited other countries, and I saw that at the crucial age (between 12 and 18 years old), there was often a social and psychological barrier, a significant lack of discipline. The potential for young people to achieve their goals was there. That’s what encouraged me to continue,” he said.

Boulerice emphasized the happiness he has enjoyed from community service:

“You reap what you sow! I have reaped so much joy! What I gave to others has come back to me in abundance!” he exclaimed.
