The Québec government has reinforced its commitment to making much-needed safety improvements to Autoroute 50.

On Tuesday, June 23, Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility Benoit Charette confirmed more than $70 million will be spent on the work during the next two years.

Following work between Grenville-sur-la-Rouge and Brownsburg-Chatham, a new phase is underway: the installation of a median barrier between Lachute and Mirabel. This work is scheduled for 2027 on a 17-km section.

The government is also doing the analysis of the section between L’Ange-Gardien and Grenville-sur-la-Rouge to determine measures to improve safety.

Work is also intensifying on studies and analyses related to the progress of the project to widen the highway to two lanes on the section between Route 329 in Lachute and Chemin Saint-Simon in Mirabel.
