On Monday, June 15, the Township of Champlain announced that Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Kevin Tessier will be leaving the organization after eight years of dedicated service to the municipality.

According to a news release issued by the township, Tessier will conclude his tenure with the Township of Champlain on July 17, as he pursues a professional opportunity closer to home. After many years of commuting, this decision will allow him to spend more time with his family and achieve a better work-life balance.

“Mr. Tessier has been a valued member of our organization and a trusted advisor to Council,” said Mayor Normand Riopel. “His knowledge of municipal government, strong financial expertise, and ability to analyze complex issues have been important assets to the Township. Throughout his time with Champlain, he provided sound advice, practical solutions, and thoughtful leadership that helped Council make informed decisions. We are grateful for his contributions and the positive impact he has had on our municipality.”

Kevin Tessier joined the Township of Champlain as Treasurer and quickly distinguished himself through his expertise and leadership. He later served as Interim Chief Administrative Officer before assuming the role permanently. Throughout his career with the Township, he worked closely with Council and staff to strengthen municipal operations, support strategic initiatives, and advance projects that benefited the community.

“It has been a privilege to serve the Township of Champlain,” said Tessier. “I am proud of what we have accomplished together over the past eight years and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such dedicated employees and Council members. What attracted me to Champlain in the first place was its strong sense of community and rural character, and those are qualities I have come to appreciate even more throughout my time here. It has been a pleasure to work with residents, community partners, and local agencies who genuinely care about this community and consistently come together to support one another. I sincerely thank everyone for their support, collaboration, and friendship throughout my time with the Township.”

While Council and staff will greatly miss working alongside him, they are deeply grateful for his years of dedicated service, leadership, and many contributions to the Township. His positive impact on the organization and the community will be felt for years to come, and they wish him every success and happiness in the future.
