Alfred and Plantagenet township council has approved an additional $40,000 in expenditures on expansion of two sewage pumping stations in Plantagenet.

On Tuesday, June 2, council was presented with a report indicating that there had been increase in costs associated with design work for the project.

The budget for design and consulting work on the Plantagenet is $350,000 and the additional expenditure will not result in that budget being exceeded. To date, the professional fees for design and engineering consultation for the project have totaled $288,817.

The expansion of the two sewage pumping stations in Plantaganet is made possible by an $8.76 million grant from the Province of Ontario the township has received to accompany sewage lagoon expansion work also being done in the village. Provincial grants are funding 73 per cent of the total sewage system expansion project in Plantagenet.
