A few nominations have been filed for city council seats in Clarence-Rockland, but one incumbent councillor is not seeking another term in the October 26 vote.
Trevor Stewart, who has represented Ward 7 since 2022, has announced he is not pursuing re-election. Stewart was just 23 when elected and in 2025 was the Ontario Liberal Party candidate in Glengarry-Prescott-Russell in that year’s provincial election. Stewart has decided to pursue an opportunity to work abroad for a year, rather than continuing in municipal politics. However, he said this decision does not mean he will cease being involved politically.
As of Thursday, May 28, incumbent Ward 2 Councillor Stéphane Fournier, and Ward 3 incument Carl Grimard had submitted nomination documents to run for another term. In Ward 4, new candidate Casey Billing had registered, and in Ward 5, Don Bouchard and Chantal Sarkisian were registered as candidates for councillor.
