The annual Beau’s 5K Ovarian Cancer Run is returning to Vankleek Hill on Saturday, June 20, bringing the community together once again in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada.

Now in its 12th year, the event will take place at Beau’s Brewing Co. and invites participants of all ages and fitness levels to run, walk, or bike in support of ovarian cancer awareness and research.

The event was created in memory of Ashley Courtois (Cowan), a Vankleek Hill resident who passed away from ovarian cancer at the age of 33. What started as a tribute to her life has since grown into a meaningful community tradition focused on awareness, support, and hope.

“Every step taken at Beau’s 5K helps move us closer to a future without ovarian cancer,” said Korina Tkachenko, Taproom Manager at Beau’s Brewing. “This event is about community, remembrance and hope, bringing people together to honour Ashley’s legacy while making a tangible difference for those affected by this disease.”

Participants can choose between 3K, 5K, and 10K distances, with options to run, walk, or bike. Organizers say the event is designed to be inclusive and family-friendly, welcoming everyone from experienced athletes to casual participants. Families, friends, and even pets are encouraged to take part in the day’s activities.

This year’s event will take place at Beau’s Brewery in Vankleek Hill and is open to people of all ages and abilities. Whether participants choose to walk, run, or bike, all proceeds from the event will support Ovarian Cancer Canada’s work in research, advocacy, and patient support programs.
