North Glengarry Council reviewed the second intake of its 2026 Community Grant Program (CMP) at its Monday, April 27 meeting, with the remaining funds from this year’s allocation awarded to five local organizations.

According to North Glengarry Director of Community Services Stephanie MacRae, $7,521.87 remained available from the municipality’s $25,000 annual grant envelope following the first intake earlier this year.

The Arts, Culture, and Heritage Advisory Committee reviewed all applications and recommended awarding the full remaining balance, along with $2,949 in in-kind municipal support.

Councillor Michael Madden said he was pleased to see some newer organizations included in the CMP for the first time on the approved list.

Projects supported through this intake include a mix of educational programming, community festivals, and arts programming, aligning with the CMP’s goal of supporting activities that contribute to the municipality’s cultural and community life.

Council supported the recommendations as presented, with funding and in-kind contributions allocated as follows:

  • Glengarry Encore Education received $2,050.35 and in-kind use of the Glengarry Sports Palace valued at $468, for its 20th anniversary celebration and a Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital (HGMH) fundraiser.
  • The Glengarry Honey and Pollinators Festival was awarded $1,988.26 and in-kind use of Island Park and the Sandfield Centre for its event.
  • The Kenyon Agricultural Society received $1,000 in funding for the demolition derby at the Maxville Fair, a new activity being included this year.
  • The Priest’s Mill Art Centre received $2,483.26 for its 2026 exhibitions.
  • The HGMH Foundation received in-kind support valued at $1,910 for the use of the Tim Hortons Dome for its annual Washer Tournament fundraiser.
