Nominations for the 2026 municipal election in The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet are now being accepted.

Candidates can file nomination papers from May 1 to August 20, 2026, during regular office hours, and on August 21 (Nomination Day) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Positions available on council for the Township of Alfred-Plantagenet include:

  • Mayor
  • Two councillors – Ward 1 (Alfred, Lefaivre)
  • Two councillors – Ward 2 (Plantagenet, Treadwell, Wendover, Curran, Pendleton)

To submit a nomination, candidates must book an appointment with clerk Julie Prudhomme at the township office.

To file, candidates must submit a completed nomination form (Form 1) in person at the clerk’s office, along with the required fee:

  • $200 for mayor
  • $100 for all other positions

Payment can be made by cash, debit, certified cheque or money order. Candidates must also provide identification.

Municipal candidates must include 25 endorsement signatures from eligible voters (Form 2). This requirement does not apply to school board trustee candidates.

If not enough candidates are nominated, submissions will reopen for vacant positions on August 26, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The new council term will run from November 15, 2026, to November 14, 2030. Voting day is set for October 26, 2026.
