A first Sunday of May tradition is back again this Sunday, May 3.
The annual Russell Gauley Pancake Breakfast is that day in the hall at the Vankleek Hill Fairgrounds. Presented by the Hawkesbury Rotary Club, the event raises funds for the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital (HGH) Foundation. Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for children.
The annual breakfast began more than 30 years ago when the late Russell Gauley of Vankleek Hill organized the first event to raise money to help local cancer patients with the transportation they needed to get to Ottawa for treatment.
In 2025, the Russell Gauley Pancake Breakfast raised more than $6,700 for oncology services at HGH.
