Floodwaters have been rising on recent days along Rivière Rouge in Grenville-sur-la-Rouge. According to the Québec government’s flood forecast and map website, the situation was still considered a minor flood as of 10:45 am on Friday, April 17, based on monitoring at McNeil Falls which is near the bridge crossing the river by the intersection with Chemin de la Rivière Rouge. The water is projected to rise.

On Thursday, the Municipality of Grenville-sur-la-Rouge notified residents that sections of Chemin de la Rivière Rouge may need to be closed beginning on Friday due to rising water. The municipality recommended residents go and stay with family or friends in other places, but that if they chose to stay, to ensure they had proper emergency supplies.

On Friday morning, Grenville-sur-la-Rouge firefighters were visiting residents along Chemin de la Rivière Rouge and in other low-lying areas collecting emergency contact information.

The municipality emphasized that residents should continue to monitor the municipal Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/infogslr, and website https://www.gslr.ca/ for official updates about the situation.
