Two area provincial parks are not likely in the path of the proposed Alto high-speed passenger rail line.

According to Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation, and Parks spokesperson Gary Wheeler, the Ministry is currently not aware of any proposal for the Alto route to go through provincial parks.

In recent weeks, private property owners near Voyageur Provincial Park near Chute-à-Blondeau, and the Alfred Bog Provincial Park located in parts of The Nation Municipality and Alfred and Plantagenet have received notices from Alto seeking permission to collect environmental data from their properties. Alto is planning the high-speed rail line between Ottawa and Montréal.

Alfred Bog encompasses more than 3,000 hectares and is the largest of three remaining domed peat bogs in the southern half of Ontario. Voyageur Provincial Park has an area of 1,466 hectares and provides year-round recreational opportunities.
