One driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a head-on collision on Autoroute 50 in Brownsburg-Chatham during the previous weekend.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, at around 8 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, emergency services were called to Autoroute 50 near kilometer marker 242 in Brownsburg-Chatham following a head-on collision between a tractor-trailer and a car.

Initial reports from police indicated the driver of the car may have veered out of their lane and struck the oncoming tractor-trailer. Extrication equipment was required to remove the victim from the car. The victim was extricated from the vehicle and transported to the hospital with serious injuries, but their life is not believed to be in danger. The truck driver was not injured.

Autoroute 50 was closed to traffic to allow for the investigation of the scene.
