She performed on radio and in hotels across the region, and she also made sure the mail was on time for 35 years.
Jeannine (Duval) Seguin died on Saturday, October 11 at age 91.
Born and raised west of Vankleek Hill, Seguin’s career with the post office began in the early 1950s when assisting her brother Philippe Duval with delivering extra mail around Christmas. By 1956, her full-time career with the post office had begun and she eventually served as Postmaster for Vankleek Hill.
Jeannine married Johnny Seguin in 1955, and she became part of his country music Johnny & his Hillbilly Boys and was known for having a rich alto voice. The band played hotels from Lancaster to Maxville, the Century Inn in Grenville, Harrington, Boileau and Arundel. Johnny and Jeannine performed live on CFRA in Ottawa with the Happy Wanderers and Wilf Carter.
Jeannine and Johnny had one child, architect J. Denis Seguin of Vankleek Hill.
Funeral arrangements for Jeannine Seguin have been entrusted to Hillcrest Funeral Home, Vankleek Hill.
