At the special council meeting on Tuesday, August 19, Grenville-sur-la-Rouge council awarded contracts totalling $3,417,000, plus applicable taxes, for the reconstruction of chemin Kilmar in two sections. Construction in both the Belvédère and 10th Concession sectors will begin in early September.
Solmatech will conduct laboratory and materials testing on both sectors at a cost of $47,614.40.
In the Belvédère sector, Construction Monco Inc. will handle paving, ditches, culvert work, and blasting for $1,024,287.03, with engineering oversight by HKR Consultation at $90,177.45. Completion is expected within 12 weeks, with alternating traffic along the route.
Construction in the 10th Concession sector will be done by Uniroc for $2,139,922.06, overseen by Parallèle 54 at $115,000. Work is expected to take at least 14 weeks, with an additional two weeks scheduled in Spring 2026. A set completion date has not been determined.
Any full road closures will be communicated by the municipality in advance, although alternating traffic will be maintained where possible.
Council unanimously awarded the contracts without further discussion. Councillors Patrice Deslongchamps, Isabelle Brisson, and Denis Fillion were absent from the meeting.
