Summer means road work just about everywhere, including Brownsburg-Chatham.
The town is getting ready to extend two streets in Brownsburg. On July 8, a notice of motion was introduced and a regulation deposited before council which, if adopted, will allow for up to $938,820 to be spent on extending rue Woodbine and rue George-Brown between rue MacVicar and rue Lafleur in Brownsburg.
New residential development is currently taking place in the area.
Mayor Kévin Maurice remarked that rue George-Brown is named after the founder of Brownsburg.
New stops
Traffic now must stop in both directions on rue des Érables at the intersection with rue Maurice in Brownsburg.
Council adopted a staff recommendation on July 8 to install the stop signs at the intersection. Rue des Érables connects with Montée La Branche on the southern edge of Brownsburg. There are no residences or businesses fronting rue Maurice, but the street is the entrance to an adjacent residential area.
Engineering contract
On July 8, council awarded the contract for engineering and supervision work associated with rehabilitation work on chemin Dalesville Sud to Équipe Laurence Inc. for $55,990 plus taxes.
The Équipe Laurence proposal was one of three received by the town for the project.
