Hawkesbury resident Léa Arcand is the recipient of an Ontario Senior of the Year Award.
Arcand was presented with the award at the Hawkesbury municipal council meeting on Monday, June 23. The award itself is a certificate signed by Lieutenant-Governor Edith Dumont and Minister for Seniors and Accessibility Raymond Cho.
Hawkesbury Mayor Robert Lefebvre described Arcand as a very exceptional person who was receiving the award for her previous and continued contributions to the community.
“Lea contributes well to the benefit of others,” he commented.
Arcand has been a volunteer at the Hawkesbury Central Food Bank since 2008. She is a charity bingo volunteer and also assists with Prescott-Russell Community Services.
Lefebvre added that Arcand is an active member of the Filles d’Isabelle, a lector, and eucharistic minister at Paroisse St-Pierre-Apôtre.
“This is an exceptional story of volunteering,” Lefebvre concluded before presenting the award to Arcand.
