On Monday, April 14, North Glengarry council unanimously approved a contract with Malyon Construction for the township’s annual sidewalk rehabilitation project. Council allocated a maximum of $150,000 for 2025 sidewalk reconstruction and repairs as part of the project.
Staff noted that Malyon Construction also completed last year’s sidewalk rehabilitation project, completing the work on time and meeting or exceeding township standards. Malyon Construction has agreed to hold its pricing this year, maintaining its unit rate of $159 per square metre to support cost efficiency.

The final project cost will depend on the associated material and labour cost requirements.
Sidewalk work is scheduled annually based on the previous year’s condition assessment and is essential for maintaining community infrastructure.
The 2025 plan includes Main Street sidewalk repairs outside the Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry (SDG) Counties Main Street project area.
The start date for the project has not yet been determined.
