Glengarry-Prescott-Russell Liberal candidate Trevor Stewart hosted a Campaign Carnival in Rockland on Saturday, February 15, symbolically marking the halfway point of the 2025 Ontario Election campaign.
With the election scheduled for February 27, Stewart and his team gathered local supporters at their campaign headquarters on Laurier Street to highlight what an Ontario Liberal government could provide constituents.
Stewart emphasized that Glengarry-Prescott-Russell requires a strong, Francophone voice to ensure support and sustained development of the Francophone community in Eastern Ontario. He alleged there is a continued lack of dedication to this part of the province, which is detrimental to his community, friends, and family.
Stewart also explained that the lack of an advance voting poll in Rockland is unacceptable.
Although he commended Elections Ontario workers for doing their best, “the people of Rockland and surrounding areas deserve the right to participate in that democratic process as equally as anyone else in Glengarry-Prescott-Russell. My team has had discussions with Elections Ontario to rectify the situation. Unfortunately, we were told that nothing can be done at this time,” Stewart said.
Stewart added that while door-knocking recently, more and more people in the riding are expressing their concern with the continuous tariff threats from United States President Donald Trump.
He clarified that while continuing to hear about common election topics such as housing, the cost of living, and healthcare, individuals are now worried about how a 25 per cent tariff on Canadian exports to the United States could also impact the overall cost of living.
“People are concerned, and rightfully so,” Stewart concluded.
