On January 13, the Township of East Hawkesbury council unanimously approved a moderate rate increase for sewage fees for Chute-à-Blondeau. Residents will see a $50 increase from last year’s rate.
The annual sewage service rate for 2025 will cost residents $625 per unit within the village of Chute-à-Blondeau. This marks an 8.7 per cent increase from 2024. The rate per unit will apply to both residential and commercial units and will be collected in the same manner as municipal taxes.
Those with multiple units will need to pay the $625 fee multiplied by the number of owned units being serviced.
Council cited an increase in operational and maintenance costs of the sewage system as the reason for the modest bump.
