The Prescott and Russell Development Corporation (PRDC), in collaboration with the Schertois agency, has officially launched preparations for the 2025-2030 tourism development strategy. The PRDC aims to create favourable conditions for the growth of tourism activities in the Prescott and Russell region.

To carry out the strategy, PRDC has retained the services of Guylaine Scherer, from the Schertois agency. Having worked in the tourism sector for many years with Destination Ontario, Scherer brought her expertise and knowledge in tourism to ensure the development and promotion of Ontario as a Francophone and Francophile tourism destination. Over the next year, the PRDC, through regional public consultations, will seek recommendations from municipalities, stakeholders, tourism businesses, travelers, First Nations, underrepresented groups, and citizens on the future of tourism in Prescott and Russell. The feedback gathered will contribute to the creation of this new strategy for sustainable tourism growth. Scherer will work closely with tourism organizations and businesses in Prescott and Russell to give direction to the development of the tourism strategy, guide its actions, and build a strong and sustainable tourism industry. This strategy will meet the needs of visitors while supporting the development of local businesses and the regional economy.

“We are confident that this new tourism strategy will position our region as a top destination, not only for tourists and visitors but also as a model for sustainable and inclusive tourism. Additionally, we want this tourism strategy to serve as an economic development opportunity for the communities, businesses, and organizations in Prescott and Russell,” said PRDC Executive Director John Candie.
