Council unanimously appointed a new Deputy Mayor at the November 13 council meeting.

After three years as Deputy Mayor, Councillor Manon Jutras resigned, opening the position once more. She had been the Deputy Mayor since 2021 and cited personal reasons for stepping down.

Deputy Mayors are appointed in municipalities to fulfill the mayoral duties in the absence or vacancy of the mayoral seat, ensuring that the municipal government continues functioning.

“I would like to take the time to thank Manon Jutras for her excellent work as Deputy Mayor. It is a function almost as demanding as being mayor, and she carried it out brilliantly,” Mayor Tom Arnold said.

He continued, “We are lucky to have such an integrated and dedicated person with so much knowledge as a councillor for Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, and on behalf of the citizens, councillors, and myself, thank you for your years of involvement with us.”

Following Mayor Arnold’s statement of thanks for Jutras’ work in the position, Councillor Carl Woodbury was officially chosen as Deputy Mayor.

Woodbury was originally elected as a councillor after winning his ward in the 2021 Grenville-sur-la-Rouge municipal election.
