Dyane Adam is the first person to receive the Key to the City in Casselman.

Adam was presented with the award on October 1. Adam served as the first chair of the board of directors of the Université de l’Ontario français in Toronto and the former Commissioner of Official Languages.  The Key to the City is Casselman’s highest distinction. It can be awarded to individuals or organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the community, either nationally or internationally.

“Dyane Adam is an example of what community involvement means. She has drawn inspiration all her life from what she experienced in her youth in Casselman. Community involvement can go a long way. That is why I have made it an important value of my mandate. I encourage all residents to get involved in community life to enrich their own life and the lives of everyone in our municipality,” Mayor Geneviève Lajoie said.

Adam said she is touched by the recognition. “Casselman, my hometown, is the place that shaped my heart and mind, and above all that instilled in me the community values of inclusion, social justice and solidarity. Throughout my life, these values have formed the foundation of my community involvement, my passion for the Francophonie and my compass in all my professional and personal activities. I am deeply touched by this testimony of recognition from my hometown,” Adam reflected.

Adam was also the first person to sign the municipality’s guestbook, an honour reserved for people who have left their mark on Casselman’s history.
