The Hawkesbury and District General Hospital (HGH) Foundation has received a donation of $60,000 from local Lions Clubs and the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF).  This generous gift was an important step in the acquisition of new 3D mammography technology, which went live in February.

It was the Lefaivre Lions Club, a long-time supporter of the HGH Foundation, who took the initiative of bringing together several local Lions Clubs (Vankleek Hill, Clarence Creek, Alexandria and Buckingham) to raise a more significant donation of $30,000. But they didn’t stop there, as they subsequently applied to the Lions Clubs International Foundation to match their donation. As a result, a generous $60,000 was donated to the HGH Foundation as part of the Foundation’s ongoing fundraising campaign, There’s No Place Like Home.

The dedication of the various Lions Clubs, committed to supporting the community, led the organization to support the purchase of this important new equipment for the region. 3D mammography technology, also known as “tomosynthesis,” significantly improves the early detection of breast cancer.

The HGH Foundation, together with HGH’s Director of Medical Imaging, welcomed representatives of the participating Lions Clubs for a private tour of HGH, to witness the impact of their contribution toward the hospital’s redevelopment project and the present campaign.

The HGH Foundation & “There’s No Place Like Home” Campaign

The HGH Foundation’s mission is to raise funds in order to improve the care and services offered to the community by the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital.

There’s No Place Like Home is an initiative to help provide the highest priority medical equipment so that HGH can add and expand programs and services in key areas such as ophthalmology, advanced mammography, cardiology, urology, and endoscopy.
