New sidewalks and curbs will be built in Plantagenet this year, and they will cost less than the municipality was planning.
On March 5, Alfred and Plantagenet township council awarded the contract for the replacement of sidewalks in the village to Malyon Excavation Limited of Cornwall at a cost of $182,405. The Malyon tender had the lowest cost of the three bids the township received and was $117,595 under the amount budgeted. A total of $300,000 had been allocated in the 2024 municipal budget for sidewalk replacement in Plantagenet.
