One individual was charged following an investigation into an incident involving intimate partner violence in The Nation.
On February 26, 2024, at approximately 4:08p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Russell County Detachment were called to a residence in The Nation in relation to an intimate partner violence occurrence.
During the investigation, officers determined that an assault had taken place, and an individual was taken into custody without incident.
As a result, a 64-year-old, from The Nation, Ontario, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:
- Assault CC266
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in L’Orignal at a later date.
This was the 81st call for service that Russell County OPP have responded to since the beginning of 2024 involving intimate partners. 16 of those calls have resulted in criminal charges being laid.
